Where was Cameron on the 6th October 1915?

In his letter (in blue crayon) to Ashley Smith of 6th October 1915, Cameron wrote: ".. get the Graphic of Oct 2nd. There's a birds Eye view of the British front. Right in the middle there's a line like this. We are about the H in the first British."

I just received a copy of The Graphic of 2nd October 1915 and can now see where Cameron was. He was close to the village of Aubers, west of Lille. The magazine is full of photographs and drawings, many of which will be worth reproducing here.

This feels like a remarkably specific connection to a particular person at a particular place on a particular day.
